FAQs

Who actually uses Mold Dogs?

Everyone! As a matter of fact, mold dogs have been utilized in Europe for over 20 years. Everyone can benefit from a mold dog inspection—landlords, realtors, homeowners, even remediation companies and mold assessors trust our services. We offer: Core Mold Dog Inspections, Remediation Inspections, and Real Estate Inspections for any lived in space. Even the experts call us in to help!

Why use a mold dog service instead of traditional ERMI testing?

Certified mold dogs have over a 90% accuracy finding mold compared to only a 70% accuracy with ERMI testing. ERMI Testing tells you there is mold, whereas Bacon can pinpoint exactly where the problem lies without drilling holes or causing property damage. This will save you time and money before committing to further remediation or testing.

If Bacon finds mold, what is the next step?

Bacon provides the exact location of the mold. Next, you hire a qualified mold remediation team and schedule a discounted post-remediation mold dog inspection to ensure all of your concerns have been addressed.

We had a leak! Should I call Bacon out for an inspection?

Yes, please do! Even after leaks are repaired, mold may have already taken hold. A quick search with Bacon can confirm whether remediation was successful.

What are the types of properties that Bacon inspects?
Can mold dogs, like Bacon, detect all different types of mold?
Will my mortgage lender or insurance cover a mold dog inspection?

We inspect all types of properties, including homes, condos, commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, offices, and vacation rentals such as Airbnb properties. We also inspect vehicles, boats, and RVs!

Mold dogs are trained to detect the scent of actively growing mold as well as inactive spores, regardless of species. However, for species identification, lab testing will be needed.

Because some mortgage lenders or insurers require mold verification, we provide detailed reports that satisfy most underwriting and coverage standards.

Do I have to do anything in order to prepare for a visit from Bacon?

No special preparation is needed before Bacon gets to work. If you have cats or other household pets, we recommend keeping them outside the inspection area until we are done.
